Syte Architects have been working with the Queen’s Park Ward in the City of Westminster on an urban rejuvenation scheme that intends to instigate a positive transformation of the Harrow Road – particularly the section between Ladbroke Grove and Maida Hill Market, for the Queen’s Park Community Council (QCPP).
Construction is progressing at Kingswood Avenue with the construction of the side infill extensions. The first stage in removing the existing walls involves inserting temporary steel props to take the load of the building above to enable the lower walls to be demolished.
Major restructuring works have commenced at 31 Kingswood Avenue. New perimeter concrete walls have been constructed along the site boundaries. These will be the other edges of the new large space. The internal refurbishment of listed Artist Studio in St. John’s Wood is under way and the construction of the mezzanine level has moved forwards well. The mezzanine will provide an extended studio and storage space for the artist and features glass floors along the perimeter allowing light down to the space below.
