It is now ten years since Another Place, was installed on the beach between Crosby and Blundellsands, part of the coastline that runs to the North of Liverpool. Though first becoming aware of the piece shortly after the initial installation I only visited for the first time last week.
The glass floor inserts are installed along the perimeter to the mezzanine and admit light down to the studio space below. Glass balustrades are fixed with 100mm gap between each panel.
The internal refurbishment of listed Artist Studio in St. John’s Wood is under way and the construction of the mezzanine level has moved forwards well. The mezzanine will provide an extended studio and storage space for the artist and features glass floors along the perimeter allowing light down to the space below.
Syte Architects have recently received listed building consent for internal alterations to an existing Artists Studio in St Johns Wood. The proposal consists of the insertion of a new steel mezzanine for the artist to use as a workspace which is linked to the ground floor through an integrated staircase/joinery unit.
